A mother-of-three has been left devastated after her two-year-old son was allegedly kidnapped.
Meirivone Rocha Moraes, 37, from Brazil, ‘married’ a life-size ragdoll called Marcelo and has three children – twin ‘newborn’ daughters Marcela and Emilia and two-year-old son Marcelinho, all of whom are stuffed toys.
But now tragedy has struck the family after a thief snatched Marcelinho and is demanding a ransom of R$1M (£130,000).
The tearful mother said her tragedy was compounded when police ‘laughed in her face’ about her toy son’s disappearance.
She said: ‘Marcelinho was kidnapped and it is causing great sadness in our family.
‘[The thief] asked for a million, but I said: “I’m not rich. I don’t even have enough to eat, and you want that much money from me”.

The tearful mother said the kidnappers even sent them an anonymous letter made with cutouts from magazines.
She said: ‘We are doing what we can. We don’t know why, but when we went to the police, the police laughed in my face. It is so disrespectful.
‘How could you ever make jokes about the disappearance of a child who is only two years old?’

Meirivone said: ‘On his first birthday, we had a big party with my family, but this time we had a small intimate celebration just with some of Marcelo’s cousins.
‘Marcelinho had a lot of fun with his relatives. There were lots of games and music and popcorn, hot dogs, cake, sweets, soda, and even souvenirs.’
Now all Meirivone wants is her baby boy to come back home.

She said: ‘The neighbours told us that a person was here all morning with a red striped bag.
‘Then, my Marcelinho disappeared.
‘Marcelo thinks he was kidnapped when he went to buy bread.
‘When he arrived there was no one else here at home and the door was open.
‘I am very worried, we are desperate.’
