Josh Brolin reveals he uses nicotine pouches 24 hours a day and will even pop them when he’s SLEEPING

Josh Brolin has revealed he is so addicted to nicotine patches that he even puts them in when he’s asleep.

The actor, 56, who has previously spoken openly about his battle with alcohol addiction, used to chew tobacco and take nicotine lozenges, but now can’t do without patches, even when he’s sleeping.

He told Thursday’s episode of Marc Maron’s WTF podcast: ‘I have a pouch in my lip, and I’m not f*****g lying, 24 hours a day. Then I started taking them out and putting them on the bedside table.

The star – who is married to third spouse Kathryn, 36, said his partner noticed him popping in a patch when he was in a deep sleep.

He said: ‘My wife would hear this in the middle of the night. I don’t even know I’m doing it, I’m asleep.’

The dad of four added: ‘My kid would pick it up at 2 years old, which is really — maybe there’s not any nicotine, maybe there’s not any danger, but if she puts it in her mouth, she’s gonna get sick.

‘And instead of stopping, I try and teach them, “Don’t do that. Daddy needs that.”‘

Discussing his use of nicotine lozenges, he said: ‘They go away in two seconds, but they taste like gasoline, and there’s a punch to them. But I used to keep them up between my gum and my tooth line.

‘I got seven cavities. That’s why I switched to [pouches]. There’s a ton of sugar [in lozenges].’

The Men In Black III star revealed he was once so desperate for nicotine when he was filming in Jordan that he ended up taking a huge dose after a local merchant offered it.

He said: ‘We’re in Jordan, and he comes up to me, and he says, “I have some,” and it has a skull and crossbones on the top, and it’s 40-milligram packets. And I said, “I can’t do that”.

‘I stick the thing in my mouth for no more, and I swear to God on my kids, for no more than 20 seconds, and I had to cancel dinner that night’ – adding that he became extremely unwell.

Initially, Boyd worked as Brolin’s assistant more than a decade ago, but things would ultimately turn romantic between the two in March 2013.

The couple would go on to date for more than three years before they decided to make their union legal and tie-the-knot in September 2016.

Some eight months later, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together, daughter Westlyn, five, who would be followed by the arrival of her sister Chapel, three.

Brolin is also dad to two adult children — daughter Eden, 29, and son Trevor, 35 — from his first marriage to actress Alice Adair.

He was married to actress Diane Lane from 2004-2013.
